During its tenure as a union member at the USNW (United Sovereign Nations of the World), Okaiken had a major reset and began with the second volume. Though there are only seven updates into the journal, it was one of the most popular series in Simtropolis, averaging about 15 comments every day and many reaching a thousand views. However, visual medium associated with this City Journal, aside from the Simlympics and the very first update, disappeared when an image hosting service called Majhost disappeared from the internet. The pictures that you see on this page are what that remains in the journal.
THE UPDATES
IANOTHER NEW ERAOkashi (Okami), Okami-toLocated in Okashi, Okaiken refreshes to a new, more dramatic storytelling! As the first entry of the series, the first update set the tone for this version of Okaiken: a straightforward, sombre and adequately paced journal. In this piece, the narrator was not named so that the audience could perceive the author's feelings of a new, serious storytelling devoid of any twists familiar with the first version of the journal. Below is the introduction of the entry:
"The cycle of seasons began anew... Cold rain splatters on the hard concrete of the building once again. Trickling sounds whisper in my ears, telling me that life has sprung up." |
IITHE FOUR ELEMENTS (SIMLYMPICS)Various CitiesOkaiken hosts to one of the biggest events in SimCity History, the June 2013 (final) Simlympics! This is probably one of the largest Okaiken updates ever attempted, with more than 100 images depicting an Olympic-styled opening ceremony in Okaiken's capital city, Okashi (now named Okami). Heavily inspired by Avatar: The Last Airbender, the ceremony explores the four elements of earth, fire, air and water.

IIILOST IN TRANSLATIONCentral Toyoshi (Toyozawa)A man with an extensive background in film making becomes trapped in one of Okaiken's most dynamic--er, city, the metropolis of Toyoshi (Toyozawa)! This entry was completely lost with the disappearance of Majhost, including its stories and its content. IVIN ROUGH WATERSOff the coast of Toyoshi (Toyozawa)The Port Area of Toyoshi sings a song! Take a look at this update to see the full coverage of the performance of the "Gunkan Machi", live in Okaiken! This entry was completely lost with the disappearance of Majhost, including its stories and its content. This entry was about the so-called "Naval Station Toyoshi" and the strength of the Okaiken Maritime Defence Forces or OMSDF as well as a little overtones of Sanese patriotism, nationalism and sensationalism. Although contents of the entry aside from the above picture were lost, the scene was rebuilt in Okaiken V4's 33rd update, "Toyozawa no Minato".
