懐かしい2016年の岡井県!
The year that was 2016, a look back at Okaiken.
岡井県。
We can all say that 2016 is an interesting year in Okaiken, with a new twist of events that went on during the year and a lot more drama that had happened since 2015. Okaiken underwent a period where its Prime Ministers changed from one to another as well as an election drama that could not be missed. Let's look back at a turbulent year for this nation...
LOOK AT US NOW! |
Otaki, the cosmopolitan capital of Okaiken and one of the world's largest urban conurbations, is brimming with areas of differing shapes, sizes and uses. In order for us to understand its dynamics, we offer you a tour of how the city works from one of our young apprentices.

SOME RANDOM TOWN PART 2 |
February in Okaiken is one of the most unusual months that people experience. While the season is still winter, cherry blossoms from its northernmost cities (Otaki, Shinagawa and Itoigawa) bloom by the 14th; Virtually no snow is present at this time and the weather is perfect for couples who want to take a romantic stroll in the park.

THE RICE KINGDOM |
Ii Naotaka arrived in Ninohe, a small town of 3,000 people. It has the most basic of services: Fire station, high school, railway station, supermarkets, you name it. The town is on the centre of the so-called "inaka", offering no glimpse of the urban typologies that had defined Okaiken. In context, farms dominate the landscape; old, worn-down homes are prevalent, and there is no asphalt in sight aside from the yet unopened highway section.

REFLECTION |
All the mighty becomes the very weak,
All the giants become the poor midgets, All the living became the putrid dead. It becomes the unforgivable truth... This is where the true life begins the new fire. |
HIGHER GROUND |
At some forest southwest of Okami lies a river that runs straight to the ocean. Its journey had started in the mountains where high summer temperatures melt the last season's snow. These then fall in a valley as straight as bamboo, and gather in a small river. These give life to the people who were living at that area. Today, many people depend on the gifts of the river, but the area was made a nature reserve in 2007 to preserve the river and forest ecosystems.

TOYOZAWA NO MINATO |
Today, we are in Toyozawa, Okaiken's second largest city. We will explore possible urbanisms within the context of Toyozawa's maritime history as well as explore numerous precedents within the city to understand the dynamism and the differences between different strata of the urban landscape.

A SANESE AUTUMN (PART 1) |
Good Morning, Okaiken, today is Tuesday, November 1. Isn't it beautiful day with all of those fog lingering in the city? It will stay with us until the afternoon when the sun evaporates all of those fog. The forecast for the city will be bleak so enjoy the sun while it lasts. Today, we are going to give you a quick round around the waterfront district, where preparations for the New Years' Eve party are already underway. Check back in the end of this program to see if your favourite artist is going to play this year!

A SANESE AUTUMN (PART 2) |
"Sorry, okyaku-sama, but that is the last fish that we have for today," said a vendor. "Oh, ok," said a businessman who looked a little disappointed. He looked toward the street and saw a couple of street cars preparing for a night of 'illegal racing'. "It's time to go home, I guess," he said to the vendor.

WIKI ENTRY OF THE YEAR |
|
Honda Shigetomo (本多重朝, October 10, 1582 – June 18, 1625) was the second shogun of Mitoyagi, which now forms the state of Okaiken. He played an instrumental role on the political dynamics of Mitoyagi during his lifetime, such as establishing Okaiken's first rice futures index, now part of the Sankei 325 Index; the construction and completion of the Hokuto Omi - Shinshu road, which made it easier for the island of Haru to traverse length of the island; the reforms of the han system and the kokudaka system, which enabled a more efficient outflow of goods and materials from each han. The latter reforms, which were promoted by him as tool of the legitimacy of , caused intrigue from the ruling fudai and tozama daimyos, which later led to the Kincho Incidents of 1625.
During the Battle of Ichijoudani, part of the Kincho Incidents of 1625, which lasted until the 18th of June, he was mortally wounded by one of the Ii Naotaka's musketeers. What happened in the aftermath of the incident culminated into a series of events now called as "Great Reconciliation", which pardoned the Ii family and securing their place in Sanese politics during the Honda Period. After his death, Shigetomo became the so-called "God of Seals". |
