The Sanese En is the official currency of Okaiken. First used 10 years after the Saito Restoration, the En had become the symbol of Okaiken's economic power. The En are manufactured by the printing division of the Sanese National Bank in Shimonoseki, 25 kilometers southeast of the city of Okashi.
The bills are unique for Okaiken, with historical figures and places that made the country what it is today. On the obverse features an important person, an important event and the place where that important event took place. On the reverse, a region of the country is featured, with the most scenic and breathtaking areas as well as local culture highlighted on the currency.
The En was said to be one of the most secured bills in the planet. The bills are printed in more than 40 layers on a polymer sheet, making it difficult for thieves to counterfeit the currency. Additionally, holograms, intricate patterns, EURion as well as the official stamp from the Sanese National Bank help with the anti-counterfeiting measures.
